Starting with the banking experience.
Starling Bank began with Anne Boden’s interest in rebuilding the experience of banking around modern technology. Instead of treating an app as an extra window onto a branch service, the business made digital account management central to how customers interact with their bank.
Personal and business accounts give that approach different settings. An individual needs to understand spending and payments; a business also needs a view of its incoming and outgoing money. Starling’s product connects those everyday tasks with the systems of a regulated bank. Boden’s founding role belongs to its history and should be distinguished from subsequent leadership appointments.
